Nine months ago, a new Bar/Cafe opened in South Yarra that CADT reckons has breathed new life into the "strip".

Recently, we sent out our undercover food scouts to investigate Blue Salt Bar. The menu is based upon simple classic style dishes. Helpfully, the menu is presented in a practical file which is helpful in windy days outside. The food ranges  from sandwiches (from $7) to main courses. 

The highlight was breakfast. It is always a good sign when the eggs are served on top of the toast which was turkish bread! It´s always a pain to have to rearrange the plate before you can start. The sausage had that yummy italiany taste which complimented the mushrooms. spinach and bacon. There are also plenty of add on options that make Blue Salt a seriously good breakfast venue. Better yet it is served from 8am till 4pm.

Wed & Thurs there is a $10 Chicken Parma Special: "Get more Cluck for your Buck". It´s served with chips but you can swap it for salad. This was a good option for lunch. The chicken was moist and tender with a home made sauce, ham and real cheese. 

Blue Salt is owned by Glen who brings 15 years experience to this venture and "the aim is to cater for everyone: All ocassions and All People". Our reps have been undercover at Blue Salt more than quite a few times. Everytime the service has been friendly with helpful suggestions during those "blonde moments" that we all experience.

During the day, the emphasis is cafe style and on Friday and Saturday nights the venue morphs into a bar serving amongst other things cheap, cocktails till 1am. There is a courtyard out the back, a function room upstairs, compimented by bar style seating with convential tables on the footpath. Blue Salt does functions on a no room charge but with minimum spends. If you want to take over the whole venue which will fit up to 120 people.

Blue Salt is well worth a visit so in the words of Molly "do yourself a favour" and keep in mind Blue Salt is open 6 days a week, every day but Tuesday!
